Our Story
Our Story
PRIDE By The Beach
CURRENT CORRECT LOGO - as of 2-6-19_clip

Nestled under the umbrella of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center, Pride by the Beach is a program that will shelter you from any storm. Our mission is to serve, empower and advocate for San Diego North County's diverse LGBTQI+ community. We have worked tirelessly for more than 10 years to accomplish this goal. The lifesaving services and programs we’ve created have helped thousands of LGBTQI+ people. We are extremely proud that since the beginning of the COVID-19 global pandemic, Pride by the Beach has never closed its doors, and has in fact, increased its services to the community.

Our reach extends to over 13 cities in the North San Diego region, as well as Camp Pendleton. Some of the programs we have to offer include mental health resources, support groups for our transgender friends, HIV prevention and care, and transitional housing for youth at risk for homelessness. We continue to discover innovative ways to serve our community and hope to do this for the next 10 years and beyond.

We envision a community where everyone lives in equality, feels accepted, valued, safe and free from social stigma. Everything we do is heart-centered and stems from love. As stated by Max Dispoti, Executive Director of North County LGBTQ Resource, “We know that every person is worthy of dignity and respect.”

The visibility of LGBTQI+ folks has grown over the last several years. Pride by the Beach, which celebrates 17 years in 2024, takes the lead in continuing to bring awareness of our community through the Youth Leadership program, community leadership opportunities and a world class, free family-friendly Pride festival held on the second Saturday in June. This year it will be on June 1st from noon - 6 p.m. in the heart of downtown Oceanside. Let Pride by the Beach be your rainbow after the storm.

Sexual, romantic, and gender identities are very personal and often change from person to person.  The information below is simply a general guide to some popular LGBT community terms.  When dealing with these terms it is important to remember that gender identity, romantic attraction, and sexuality are independent of each other.  Some of these terms can be used in a derogatory way and care should be used when speaking with someone about their gender identity, sexuality, or romantic attraction.  It is always a good idea to ask the person which terms they prefer.
